Year One

Upon moving to Philadelphia, I challenged myself to draw one page of comics about every week that went by for my entire first year in a new city. I ended up drawing 2-3 pages a week, coming up with the 129 page book that I self-published in 2012. You can read this entire thing here or buy it here.

Week 2: 4/25/11 – 5/1/11 – Catching Up

Pg. 5

Daniel: “video chat?”

Ramsey: “yeah! sure.”

Brriiiing, brriiiing.

Daniel: “Sooo? Tell me about it! How is it? How do you feel? What did you do this week?”

Ramsey: “Honestly… it’s been really, really good! I pretty much just hung out with people all week.”

“Everyone has been so welcoming and easy to be around.”

Ramsey (thinking): “Wow, I have plans every day this week!?”

Ramsey: “It feels strange but I’m already totally comfortable.”

Cody: “Come hand out and watch softball.”

Ramsey: “Yeah, sure. Why not?”

Ramsey: “In Chicago I didn’t feel like it clicked. I was mostly happy just being alone… or just hanging out with you…”

“Everyone here just seems relatively happy with where they are and excited to be in each other’s company.”

Pg. 6

Ramsey: “I also went to a few great shows…”

Ramsey (thinking): “these streets are so small and charming!”

Ramsey: “and got really comfy riding my bike everywhere.”

“overall, I feel really content already.”

Daniel: “Man…I’m so proud of you… It seems like you really made the right decision to move.”

“Hey. Are you eating a banana right now?”

Ramsey: “Haha, yep.”

Daniel: “and drinking coffee?”

Ramsey: “aww… we’re having breakfast together…”

Daniel: “I miss you a lot…”

Ramsey: “me too.”
