Year One

Upon moving to Philadelphia, I challenged myself to draw one page of comics about every week that went by for my entire first year in a new city. I ended up drawing 2-3 pages a week, coming up with the 129 page book that I self-published in 2012. You can read this entire thing here or buy it here.

Week 17: 8/8/11 – 8/14/11 – My Life As A Teenage TV Series

Pg. 39

Ramsey (thinking): “Uggh… I have no idea how to write about this week.”

“I would need to write about kissing a dude I’ve been long-distance flirting with all summer…”

“It was really nice and exciting…”

“but then I would also have to write about visiting his friend two days later, who I’ve also been long-distance flirting with…”

“and ending up with a real crush on him too even though I didn’t expect to…”

“and having a great time together and sleeping in HIS bed…”

Pg. 40

“and then having to tell him that I had made out with his friend a few days earlier…”

“and generally causing drama even though I didn’t mean to. I even tried to be upfront with both of them the whole time I was flirting.”

“I never even HAVE crushes at all usually! Let alone two at one time… on dudes who are good friends. I have no idea what to do? I guess I can’t pursue either of them at this point. Back to having no crushes at all.”

“But. Anyway. I can’t write about that! I wouldn’t even know where to begin and without all the details I just end up sounding like a jerk.”

“I guess I would write about all the other fun stuff that happened this week – like the shows, and that big brunch, eating ice cream, seeing my Chicago friends and visiting Pittsburgh. But this is all I can think about.”

“Maybe I’ll just watch Buffy instead.”

Rover (thinking): “Buffy rules.”
