Well obviously I’ve let this photoblog slide pretty hard. I’ve still been taking photos – I just haven’t been making the time every week to make a post. It’s surprisingly time consuming (between the downloading, editing, uploading, and captioning). I’ve also just sort of been cruising in a steady routine that doesn’t always compel me to take photos. I think having instant photo uploading with instagram took away the ‘small details’ photos that I used to take on my real camera. So that leaves me not pulling out my real camera as often.
Here’s a post from the whole summer!
From the green room at Johnny Brenda’s before Mikey played a solo set.
Mikey playing as The Goodbye Party
Tim Kinsella playing a weird electronic set that I don’t think anyone was expecting? A lot of people left. I think the point was to alienate his audience but I’m not sure.
Babysitting for my favorite petite fille – Cat! Cat is my old nanny baby Luc’s older sister. His parents were doing a big house clean-out so while Luc napped I took Cat to the park.
Cat rules. She was being very shy about wanting to join in with the LARPers but once she got that sword – look out.
Modeling some costume jewelry her mom had just pulled out for her. This gal contains multitudes.
Luc, up from his nap.
Later that night, out for dinner with friends in town.
Brad and Prince
A very weird pre-storm sky
A picnic-style snack on a perfect summer morning at the park with my regular nanny babes.
Our baby friend, Mariela, trying on Leo’s hat. Really pulls it off.
Attending my first ever fight night – seeing some folks from my Muay Thai gym in actual fights. This is Tony.
A mid-summer beach trip to Ocean City
Beach snacks – half the reason you go to the beach on the east coast.
The beach experience ‘down the shore’ is so different from ‘going to the beach’ in Michigan. In Michigan it’s nature, sand dunes, isn’t crowded, and is small and quiet. On the east coast it’s almost more like going to a carnival where you can pay money to walk on a crowded beach. It’s definitely fun for what it is… but is just a totally different thing. I’m sure you can find nature-y beaches that you don’t have to pay to go on, but in four years I still haven’t made it to one. Most people go to the boardwalks.
In July, our old roommate Laura came back to town for summer. It’s been great having her back around.
Adult swim at the Kingsessing public pool
A show at our friends’ house
Laura stole my camera – here I am
The Goodbye Party as a full band on a very hot/humid night
Laura taking more candids
Laura and her partner, Ace, visiting from Jacksonville
Our old roommate Guy came for a visit that same weekend too!
Making dinner at Laura’s. Rover came too.
lowercase roses playing at Hong Kong Garden
A spaghetti fundraiser dinner and game night to raise money to send a few fighters from the gym down to Florida for some fights.
The truest essence of Annabel and Mariela
Leo bargaining with me about using another kid’s scooter at the park
A photo Annabel took with my camera
A show down in DC in the basement of St. Stephen’s. Carni’s new band (I forgot what they’re called!)
Chris from Pygmy Lush
Mikey solo Goodbye Party
A bad and boring photo of Hand Grenade Job that doesn’t do them justice.
More photos to come! That’s all I’ve edited so far.
