Spring came and went and early summer is here. I kept expecting to get social again during spring, come out of hibernation, but it really didn’t happen until the past week or two. I’m finally feeling pretty energized and much more socially active. It feels good.
Here are some photos from the past couple weeks, starting with a nanny day that happened to be Malachy’s 2nd birthday.
For his birthday, we took the kids out for an ice cream bday party, Malachy and Leo, and my friend Amanda and her nanny kids, Annabel and Mariella. They’re a total baby crew. We hang out together most days.
Total besties, all riding on the little bouncer at once.
“Run? Fast?” Two of Malachy’s favorite words. Leo’s standby is “Go go go!”
Annabel is usually being insistent and doing something ambitious and nervewrecking, like trying to climb over the playhouse, because why play in it when you can climb to the top of it?
Or trying to clip herself into our stroller so that she can ride on ours instead of her own.
Proud that she figured out the clips on her own.
At home with Leo
Later that same night, celebrating an adult friend’s birthday. Shannon’s!
Shannon is starting her own vegan bakery! She made this beautiful cake for her own birthday. It was soo good.
Keep an eye out for Crust Vegan Bakery, coming to West Philly this summer!
Post-Muay Thai diner breakfast on a Saturday morning.
That Saturday night, we met up with some of my old Baltimore buds for dinner, Mike and Dan and Julie. They were in town for the Replacements reunion show. It was really nice to catch up with them briefly. Considering how close I live to Baltimore, I don’t make it down there as often as I’d like.
My Christmas cactus has been confused and sending out some summer blooms. I guess it’s happy where it is.
Front porch planters full of greens. I still need to get around to thinning these out and gifting kale/chard/spinach plants to people.
Waiting while I water the garden.
A weeknight show at Lava Space – Radiator Hospital, my roommate Sam’s band.
An afternoon inside with Leo while Malachy took an epic nap.
Playing around with my camera. I was trying to get Leo to stick his tongue out for a photo but he poked my tongue with his finger instead.
A very classic Leo facial expression.
A show this past week at the Kat Frat.
My roommate Jen’s second show with her new band, Fraktur.

A Friday night dinner out at Vientiane.
Saturday night dinner out with Jen and Mikey. We went to Cantina, and after a long wait, they seated us outside. It was raining a bit at first and eventually turned into torrential downpours. It was pretty wild. Everyone seated outside shuffled their tables to try to get away from the wind and the water. It was kind of fun.
On Sunday afternoon, our Muay Thai gym had a gym picnic in Clark Park. The turn-out was great.
And there were a lot of cute dogs. It was strange to see all my gym acquaintances in street clothes.
One of my favorite gym buds, Prince. He’s probably 13 or 14?
It feels really good to be a part of this little community of people that is really diverse but all so stoked to be learning the same skill.
That’s all I’ve got. I’m stoked for more picnics in the park and summer storms.
