The Bad Side tour kickoff show at Wolf Cycles
At work with Eddie, my new nanny guy. We had two weeks on our own to get to know each other before the nanny share kicked in, when we started up with another baby. He’s a very easy going, happy kid.
The first week of September, my new book came out. Pretty exciting!
and Mikey got back from his week long Ambulars tour.
Eddie’s family makes all sorts of desserts. They are all so good and not too sweet. Perks of the nanny biz.
A weekend day trip to the Wissahickon with Mikey
It was really nice and relaxing – the perfect kick off to fall weather
We tried to stage a group photo and even got Rover to jump up and sit on that log, but then he wouldn’t ever look at the camera as the timer went off. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
After that we headed over to the end of summer Girls Rock volunteer BBQ, where we got to eat a lot of food and hang out with the folks that we ran Girls Rock Summer Camp with. It was fun to catch up outside of a camp setting, though we admittedly just hung out in our insular friend group that we see all the time – for the most part.
The next night we went to the Decarcerate PA benefit at LAVA Space to see Swearin and 40 Whacks play.
40 Whacks is Shira’s new band. It was great to see them! They sounded cool, something different, which was nice to hear. I get caught up in my own bubble of musical interest and forget that other types of music exist.
Afterward, we went out for bad/delicious food with 40 Whacks before they had to head back to DC. We ate at PWS – or PDubs – the new joint for vegan pizza and vegan wings in West Philly.
Back at work with Eddie, taking a fall stroll.
Another day, another delicious dessert prepared by his mother.
One day that week I took my camera out and showed Eddie how to use it, which he loved doing.
Here are some photos that Eddie took by himself:
and the last one by Eddie. I always love seeing photos that little kids take on nice cameras because they end up getting accidental weird focal points and perspectives that I would never do on my own.
We had one test day last week with Luc, my other nanny baby, to ease into the two kid days. I’ll have Eddie 5 days a week, and Luc will be with us three of those days – just like my last share. Luc is 4 months old, and Eddie is 16 months.
I didn’t end up taking many photos outside of my nanny days last week. Here’s one of Rover when we went on a long walk in our neighborhood.
Tuckered out. This is a major allergy season for Rover. It’s a big bummer. He chews at his skin like crazy and has a bad ear infection right now too. He gets this way every fall, even though I give him allergy medicine. The vet said he mostly just has to ride it out.
At home, in the beginning of September, Mikey and I started a Crossfit from home program with some buddies across the country. We have a spreadsheet where we log everything, and set workouts each day. It’s always what I need to get myself motivated to work out at home.
A comics reading at the Wooden Shoe last week to see Erin Wilson read from her book, Snowbird.
Found on a walk.
I spent all last weekend at SPX, the Small Press Expo in Bethesday, MD selling comic books, meeting other comic book people, and making a lot of small talk.
It was fun to finally have my new book with me at an event!
