I spent the week a little bit sick and mostly by myself. i caught up on my comics finally, which was really nice, and caught up on sleep a bit too. Mostly I was just feeling strangely unsocial, I guess after the hectic few weeks I’ve had recently.
My baby is growing by leaps and bounds. He’s pulling himself up on things and practicing cruising along in a walk. He still doesn’t crawl much. It’s possible he might mostly skip that step. He has learned to wave though! It’s so cute.
I mostly didn’t take photos this week because I was in a weird mood and didn’t do much. Here are a couple from throughout the week on my cell phone.
A buffy night with Lizz and Rover.
On Thursday, despite having been sick all week, I got reeally sick with a high fever and had to stay home. It was sort of a blessing in disguise. I think I really needed the sleep. I slept for 15 hours! Usually when I stay home sick I can’t really sleep after my normal 8 hours and just end up ‘resting’ or laying low.
On Saturday, I was hired by my gym to photograph an all day event called the Crossfit Total. Everyone goes in and makes three attempts at three different lifts, and aim to lift more than they ever have.
One of our coaches, Cassie, doing the back squat. She was doing 250 pounds here.
Setting up for a deadlift, where Angie lifted 350 pounds!! The best women’s deadlift in the gym.
Jordan having trouble with his back squat. He was going for a personal record. Most people get personal records on nearly all their lifts during the Total because it’s such a fun and competitive environment. It gets you very energized.
Jordan pulling over 225 on her deadlift. (we have three people named Jordan at our gym)
Cory talking about his press.
On Sunday I actually did some hanging out. Max and I went to Emily’s house to make pretzels for a project.
Emily had made soft pretzels before so she taught us how.
We even wore aprons.
Kneading the dough
Our dough baby
Emily got behind my camera and snapped away while we were being weird.
After letting it rise.
We played secret knucks while we waited for our dough to rise (two different people write on the knuckles of your different hands, and then you put them together to see what they say).
Lots of dick jokes commenced….
Max, Bonnie and I are working on a Philly DIY show calendar. We were making a ‘logo’ of sorts, for the first month! Pretzels are a big Philly thing, which is how the idea arose.
Boiling our dough.
Making the pretzels took several hours with all the steps, but it was really fun.
This baby will drop sometime this week.
Sunday evening at our house dinner, Lizz, Jacob and I got to talking about fashion and things we do and don’t like. As usually, we ended up applying the conversation to Rover, which led to us spending a good hour dressing him up and laughing really hard about it.
Jacob tries to uphold his aloof metal dude appearance but he’s no match for Rover. Total softie.
But really, who can resist the charm of Rov dogg?
